3. 0 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES 3. 1 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE The review of related literature features articles and journals related to the proposed system – computerized Clinic Management System. The following articles show important highlights of the proposed system and gives useful information on how a clinic system work and operate. 3. 1. 1 UNIVERSITI TEKNIKAL MALAYSIA MELAKA CLINIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Clinic management is introduced to optimize clinic’s operation. Because of huge changes in management nowadays, management for clinic is important due to the widely spread of technology.
This system is proposed for clinic in Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) to manage the clinic’s operation efficiently. The process in developing the system include student’s clinic in UTeM. The area consists of the user in clinic which is doctor and clinic assistant. Basically there are no such systems in the clinic. The system use before has caused a lot of problems to the user. Due to that, using manual system seems to be the only solutions in managing the daily works. The system will help out the user in the clinic in managing the work.
Clinic Management System for UTeM is developed for Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). The system is enhanced from the previous system that has been using in the clinic. Based on the previous system, the patient who comes to the clinic for the first time is registered via the system. The assistant assist the student by key in the data into the system. The patient gets the treatment and data about the treatment is recorded into the system. The system manages the activities in the clinic. It includes medicine registration, generate report and register new disease and category.
From the interview carried out, the previous system has cause problems to the user. The clinic stop using the system and choosing manual is the best way to overcome the problem exists. For Projek Sarjana Muda (PSM), Clinic Management System for UTeM is developed to overcome the problems. The system has few modules such as patient registration, medicine registration, disease registration and treatment history, patient record search, appointment and reporting. The system has extra features that will display the information regarding BMI (body mass index). BMI will calculate either weight or height for a person is suitable or not.
This is extra function in the system and the user will find it useful and benefit. 3. 1. 2 ASIA PACIFIC INSTITUE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ONLINE HEALTHCARE CLINIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM As we are preparing a system on Online Healthcare Clinic Management lets first see what does the word healthcare stands for, Health care (healthcare in American English), refers to the treatment and management of illness, and the preservation of health through services offered by the medical, dental, pharmaceutical, clinical laboratory sciences (in vitro diagnostics), nursing, and allied health professions.
Health care embraces all the goods and services designed to promote health, including “preventive, curative and palliative interventions, whether directed to individuals or to populations” Health care systems are designed to meet the health care needs of target populations. There are a wide variety of health care systems around the world. In some countries, the health care system has evolved and has not been planned, whereas in others a concerted effort has been made by governments, trade unions, charities, religious, or other co-ordinate bodies to deliver planned health care services targeted to the populations they serve.
However, health care planning has often been evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Purpose: The Software is for the automation of Hospital Management. It maintains two levels of users: Administrator Level and User Level The system includes: * Maintaining Patient details. * Providing Prescription. * Precautions and Diet advice. * Providing and maintaining all kinds of tests for a patient. * Billing and Report generation. 3. 1.
3 McBilly Wilford Sy – Web-Based Clinic Management System In today’s modern age where computer has become a way of life, it is evident that a majority of the country’s institutions still do not adapt the high technology. Particularly in most medical clinic facilities, daily clinic transactions are still done on paper. We all know that modern clinics are now operating at great pace striving to serve as many patients as possible with the best of their abilities.
But as the years rolled by, the number of patients has grown and various medical cases arise that the manual method of managing patients’ records, prescriptions, billing and appointment schedule, is no longer practical. In this study, we hope to develop a web-based application that will minimize all paper works and manual records keeping, therefore allowing doctors and staff ease in keeping track of patients, reducing patients’ waiting time and increasing the number of patients served – a system that is fully automated, user-friendly, time effective and efficient.
Now more than ever, people have become more health conscious and are taking necessary steps to ensure that they have a sound body and mind – that is why everyday many people come to clinics or health facility for check-ups and treatments. A medical clinic is primarily devoted to the diagnosis and care of patients. Basically, patients spend a substantial amount of time in clinics waiting for services to be delivered by the doctor or health professional.
The degree to which the patients are satisfied with the care received is relative not only to the doctors’ expertise in their field, but also to the quality of the clinic management. And we all know that as the number of patients continually increase, managing a clinic can also become increasingly difficult, especially if everything is done manually. 3. 2 REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES The review of related studies focuses on studies connected with the proposed clinic system. These studies help give the developers of the system ideas on how to deal with problems and on how to improve the proposed system.
3. 2. 1 Spelman Increases Health Center’s Productivity by 80 Percent with the Nuesoft Xpress Practice Management System In early 2001, the Spelman College health center staff determined it was time to automate operations. Driving the decision was an increase in patient traffic and the need to produce more sophisticated, robust reports. Not only was the level of student care threatened by inefficiencies; but the staff, led by Director Brenda Dalton, MBA, MSN, RN-C, WHNP, was becoming increasingly frustrated by paperwork and
other manual processes. Dalton and her colleagues had three options. They could add more staff to keep up with the additional patient flow; maintain the status quo; or automate the health center. The Spelman team chose to automate, and began a search for a practice management solution that could help them achieve the following goals: Improve productivity; Enhance the level of patient care; and provide timely and accurate reporting to Spelman administration.
